Our journey has been anything but ordinary. Its a family effort for sure. Through every step, we've focused on staying true to each other, our family values and making space for each other to learn, grow and love which of course was made possible by our first furry family member, Ruby Rose Perez.

Family of two teenage boys, two little girls, middle-aged woman and man with two adult poodles.

What began as a passion project has evolved into something more. It began with me and my two young children with special needs at home. Both my sons were born with medical conditions that made it harder for them to interact with the world around them.

As their mother, I didn’t want their differences from mainstream children to affect how they loved or how they understood “true, unconditional love”. I loved them, but sometimes kids need more than just a mother’s love…..

Sometimes a best furry friend is exactly what’s needed; however, I knew it couldn’t be just any furry friend. It had to be the PERFECT furry friend for my boys. I ran an animal rescue for several years, so I met many animals during my time with the rescue. I researched until I felt like I was an “expert” on almost every animal on the planet. My children were exposed to many different kinds of animals from a very young age and some triggered my sons’ health issues in different ways. So I knew I had my work cut-out for me and it would NOT be a fast, cut-and-dry decision for me to find the PERFECT furry friend to become a new member of our family.

Life has a way of making other plans for each of us, so fast forward in time about 9 or 10 years and add 2 more kiddos….

I FINALLY found the PERFECT furry friend to add to our family which came to me from another family member in a completely different state at the time. Funny how life does that to us. Throws situations at us that make us rethink our direction in life, by way of a brown teddy bear looking poodle puppy from a cousin about 6 or 7 states away that you hadn’t really had a chance to connect with before.

So here we are, OUR FAMILY now living in Oklahoma with our poodle, Ruby who has taught us so many things about life, love and ourselves. She has made such an impact on our family, I honestly don’t know where we would be without her. She has loved us unconditionally the entire time and has helped my oldest son better connect to the world around him. She is the first dog that my second son could play with, pet and hug that didn’t cause him respiratory issues. She indirectly helped reconnect us to our family Oklahoma which ultimately helped us decide to move to Oklahoma to experience family, country-living and a simplicity about our lives that we didn’t realize we all desperately needed.

Ruby started it all, so much so, that we wanted to give other families like ours the CHANCE to find what we’ve found……

Unconditional love, support, world engagement, deeper level of communication within our family unit and so much laughter and fun…..all in the tiny body of a poodle puppy.
